Proposal scope checklist

Review the scope and fee before asking your client for a decision. Keep this checklist alongside the proposal and the actual agreement.

01 · Describe the work

Identify the project, client and the person who can make decisions.
List the included phases and the deliverables or decisions that complete each one.
Describe the number or extent of options, revisions and meetings included in the scope.
State the assumptions, exclusions and information needed to proceed.

02 · Connect responsibilities and fees

Identify client information and decisions, consultant responsibilities and other dependencies.
Record the fee basis for each service: fixed fee, hourly or another agreed method.
State how progress or hours will be reviewed for billing, using the terms in your agreement.
Identify how requests outside the scope are reviewed, priced and authorized before proceeding.

03 · Confirm the decision and handoff

Resolve open questions about scope, timing, responsibilities and fee assumptions.
Confirm the client decision required and the acceptance process established by your agreement.
Retain the accepted version and the related approval record.
Name the person who will configure project phases, billing methods and source records.
